#065: The Cost Of Love - with Haley McGee

When being broke pushed her to the idea of doing a yard sale, Haley realised the only items of value (other than her phone and laptop) were gifts from her exes, that’s how the idea of her play and subsequent book ‘The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale’ came to be.

With the help of a mathematician, she created a formula [for the Cost of Love] that takes into account all the ways we invest or don’t, into our romantic relationships and spit out an accurate price for the material things we’re left with when the romance dies.

We go over:

  • Can you put a price on love?

  • Is love worth the heartbreaks and disappointments?

  • The concept of sunk- cost bias (or pot committed in poker) applied to relationships.

  • Why stay-at-home wives and mothers should not be free labour.

  • How very traditional men understand the value a woman brings to their lives.

  • You cannot control what people are going to think about you.
